Sidney takes on Seattle! Seattle, WA is the northern most major city on the West Coast of the United States, and the largest city in the state of Washington.

Seattle is the birthplace of rock legend Jimi Hendrix and the music style known as "grunge," which was made famous by local groups Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Bruce Lee and his son Brandon are both buried at Lakeview cemetery in Seattle.

Seattle has a reputation for heavy coffee consumption; coffee companies founded or based in Seattle include Starbucks and Seattle's Best Coffee.
Sidney first stop, The Space Needle, dating from the Century 21 Exposition (1962), its Seattle's most recognizable landmark, having been featured in the logo of the television show Frasier and the backgrounds of the television series Dark Angel, Grey's Anatomy and iCarly and films such as It Happened at the World's Fair and Sleepless in Seattle. Sidney takes an elevator ride up 520 feet to the observation deck of the Space Needle, built for the 1962 World's Fair. There he enjoys a fresh and healthy salad for lunch at SkyCity, the restaurant at the top that revolves 360° while dining. What a great view!

Seattle's mild, temperate marine climate allows year-round outdoor recreation, including, cycling, hiking, kayaking, rock-climbing, and sailing. Sidney takes a hike around Green Lake, through the forests and along the bluffs and beaches of the 535-acre Discovery Park (the largest park in the city).

At the end of the day Sidney enjoys a relaxing ride on a ferry boat where he enjoys views of the Puget Sound's most historic and scenic sites. Views of the Olympic and Cascade mountains, the Seattle cityscape, the green shorelines and salt sea air make for a perfect end to his day.

Before heading out, Sidney visits Bill Speidel’s Underground Tour. After the Great Seattle Fire of 1889, the city was rebuilt over the top of the ruins. Sidney takes a guided tour through hidden subterranean passages that once were the main roadways and storefronts of old downtown Seattle and tells stories of the frontier people who lived and worked there. What a unique experience!

But before moving on to the next city, Sidney visits some friends at the NKC Elliott Bay Kidney Center where he talks to patients, receiving dialysis, how to eat healthy, enjoy moderate exercise and how to use NKF’s website for support and education. Lastly, Sidney visits his peers at the Seattle Children’s Hospital where he reads lot of children books, shared his Seattle experience and colored with chalk. He showed the children how to have fun even though they are in a tough situation and there is always time for a good laugh.
